Pam Beaty
I began playing the guitar as a kid. I loved the Beatles (still do) and learned all the tunes popular back in the day. I always liked classical music but didn’t know it could be played on the guitar.
After seeing Andrés Segovia on TV, I completely changed course and became obsessed with classical guitar. After achieving bachelor’s and master’s degrees in guitar performance, my latest obsession is the music of Brazil: samba, choro, and especially bossa nova and the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim.
I have played and taught many other styles on guitar—that’s one of the things I like so much about the instrument: bluegrass, rock, folk, jazz—whatever people want to hear or learn how to play.
Nós Dois has been a fun project that gives me the chance to play a little bit of everything.
Nós Três, a special project featuring me on guitar and vocals, local guitar wizard Peter Zisa and the talented Nancy Durham-Stairs on percussion, has been another opportunity for me to indulge my obsessão brasileira. Please come and hear our choros and Bossa Nova tunes at the Cooper Mountain Vineyards.
